Canopy Market is back, and by god we’ve only gone and made it a chocolate special!
Between 17-19 May 2019, Canopy Market, located in King’s Cross, will once again become the home of craft chocolate. A special collaboration with Cocoa Runners, purveyors of the world’s finest craft chocolate, Canopy Market will host a dedicated chocolate market packed with the best craft chocolatiers, tastings, talks and demonstrations, all under the West Handyside Canopy’s beautifully restored Victorian glass and steel roof.
With a focus on exceptional bean-to-bar craft chocolate, (The journey from cocoa tree to chocolate bar, and very few producers in the UK can boast of this), visitors will be able to sample rare and unusual award winning single origin chocolate bars. The line-up, curated by Cocoa Runners, will give visitors an opportunity to meet the international chocolate specialists, who are bringing their wares to Canopy Market.
On Saturday 18th May, a series of chocolate tastings led by the chocolate producers themselves will give visitors the opportunity to learn about and try a range of chocolate, as well as explore its versatility. Chocoholics can attend a talk and tastings session on chocolate & cheese pairing, hosted by artisanal cheese expert Karen Gaudin, a sensory workshop with Professor Barry Smith, a British philosopher who also co-directs the Centre for the Study of the Senses at UCL, or a talk about the ‘Craft Chocolate Revolution’. You’ll get a taste for the chocolate-making process; understand how chocolate’s flavour depends on where the cacao was grown and how Indian lentil grinders are used in the process. Classes and talks should be booked in advance,
The market will also include our regular line up of your favourite traders, from street food, artisan produce, a craft beer and wine bar, as well as emerging designer-makers.
