King’s Cross announces that FACEGYM is to launch a state-of-the-art new studio at Coal Drops Yard, the new Heatherwick-Studio designed shopping and lifestyle district in King’s Cross. FACEGYM is the only gym studio for your face – where trainers perform a range of workouts, and employ the latest cutting edge technology and high-performance skincare products, to lift, sculpt, tone and tighten facial muscles.
FACEGYM was founded by beauty journalist and Financial Times Spa Junkie columnist Inge Theron in response to what she saw as an increase in the availability of invasive procedures with little regulation in place. Targeting the face’s 40 forgotten muscles FACEGYM’s effective and non-invasive signature technique uses high energy knuckling movements and whipping strokes to stimulate blood circulation, collagen production and cell renewal. With a menu of workouts available for everyone, and a range of add-on technologies including innovations in lights and lasers, radiofrequency and cryotherapy, FACEGYM’s therapists will customise workouts to skin and lifestyle needs.
Set to open in late October 2018, the state-of-the-art new studio at Coal Drops Yard will be the first location to boast a highly innovative and unique workout proposition. Visitors to the Coal Drops Yard studio will also have the opportunity to blend a custom Training Serum at the FACEGYM Make It bar.
FACEGYM founder Inge Theron says; “Our Coal Drops Yard launch is an exciting step for the brand expansion. We have wanted to go east for a while and when this unique opportunity to express amongst such a cool curation of independent shops and brands came about we knew this would be the perfect 4th studio for us. I love the design approach; this project is a look into the future of thoughtful and vibrant experience driven retail which is exactly what FaceGym is doing in the beauty industry. It will be the first of our studios to boast a highly innovative and unique workout proposition – “a freestyle barre” offering a facial exercise class schedule for those wanting to learn facial workout techniques for themselves. The studio itself is also very directional, designed in collaboration with Alasdhair Willis I feel we have created a truly genderless, high performance face studio like nothing the beauty world has seen.”
Coal Drops Yard was originally established in 1850 to handle the eight million tonnes of coal delivered to the capital each year, and was latterly the location of nightclubs Bagley’s and The Cross. The area is now reopening, reinvented by the acclaimed Heatherwick Studio, which has interwoven a contemporary design with the surviving structures, streets and rich ironwork of the original Victorian coal drops. Coal Drops Yard will be a vibrant new shopping district at the centre of King’s Cross, home to over 50 stores, restaurants and cafés, bringing together a community of like-minded brands alongside new public spaces, making it an oasis-like space for visitors to dwell, discover and to explore. Special in-store events, workshops, pop-ups and talks will all feature as part of an ongoing programme of activities and events.
FACEGYM joins an expanding line-up of forward-thinking retailers that include Paul Smith, Tom Dixon, Cubitts, Wolf & Badger, Le Chocolat by Alain Ducasse, Samsung, MHL. By Margaret Howell and COS, as well as restaurants Barrafina, Casa Pastor and wine bar The Drop. A full list is available below.
With its innovative shopping experience, canal-side location in the heart of King’s Cross and state-of-the-art architecture, Coal Drops Yard is set to become a magnet for shoppers and visitors from across London, the UK and further afield when it opens on 26 October 2018.
