London, May 2018 – King’s Cross announces that independent fashion duo Emin Young and Paul Kim will open their second permanent Emin & Paul store at Coal Drops Yard, the upcoming shopping quarter at King’s Cross, in October 2018. Having opened their successful debut location in Redchurch Street, Shoreditch, the new store will showcase their subtle and considered approach to womenswear and accessories to a new, wider audience.
The decade-old label is run by the couple who founded their brand after studying fashion in London and Paris. In 2013, the design team grew as an independent production line, enabling Emin & Paul to establish its signature look of sculptural garments accentuating the female form. The brand’s focus is on timeless and luxury style with comfortable lines, elaborate pattern cuts, understated details and heavy materials.
The store joins an expanding line-up of leading retailers that include Paul Smith, Tom Dixon, Cubitts, Manifesto, Cheaney, Form + Thread, Maya Magal, Lost Property of London and Universal Works– as well as restaurants Barrafina, Casa Pastor and wine bar The Drop. The new district will feature 100,000 sq ft of shops and restaurants when it opens to the public in October 2018.
Originally London’s primary coal store, Coal Drops Yard was established in 1850 to handle the eight million tonnes of coal delivered to the capital each year. The original structures have been reinvented by the acclaimed Heatherwick Studio, which has interwoven a striking contemporary design with the surviving grand brick viaducts, cobbled streets and rich ironwork of the Victorian coal drops situated on the site. With its leading line-up of brands, canal-side location in the heart of King’s Cross and state-of-the-art architecture, Coal Drops Yard is set to become a magnet for shoppers and visitors from across London, the UK and further afield.
