Across the Buildings Photography Competition comes to an end

The Across the Buildings Photography Competition came to an end and we are pleased to announce that Abby O’Neill is the final winner of a pair of Eurostar tickets to Paris.

The competition, which was run in partnership with Eurostar, captured the imaginations of hundreds of budding photographers and we received well over 500 entries to the competition.

We left it in the hands of our trusty site photographer John Sturrock to pick the final winner and he was drawn to Abby’s submission because “the Across the Buildings installation is about reflected skylight and Abby has caught an extraordinary moment when the artwork is seen at its inspirational best”.

Abby will now receive two Eurostar tickets to Paris as her prize. She said: “I actually was just on way to the Skate King’s Cross roller disco a couple of months ago and we came across the installation.

“The colours from the sunset reflecting on the striking art work on the building, mixed with the water just worked so well so I had to try and capture it. I only had my iPhone with me, so that’s what the picture was taken on. It surprised me that it came out so well and then my friend discovered this competition so I thought I might as well enter the pictures!! Lucky I did now!”

Previous winners include Ronan Haughton and Sarah Ward, who are also planning their trips to Paris.

Across the Buildings has been hugely popular but we must sadly say farewell to Felice Varini’s stunning artwork. There is no need to worry though as the next arts project at King’s Cross is already being planned.
