William Franklin – putting the Camden in New Jersey

Posted: Thursday 14th November 2013

Don’t miss this event where you can learn about the scandal, tragedy, revolution and science experiments associated with William Franklin, the last Royal Governor of New Jersey, who was buried a stone’s throw from King’s Cross in St Pancras Churchyard, 200 years ago this month.

William is the son of Benjamin Franklin, one of the founding fathers of the United States, and was present when his father carried out his famous experiment to prove that lightning is electricity by flying a kite in a storm.

Local historian Lester Hillman will also explore William’s historic links to Camden during this free bicentennial presentation, which will take place at St Pancras Old Church, in Pancras Road, at 12pm on 24 November.
