With a history that stretches back to Queen Boudicca and the Romans, King’s Cross has a story to tell! And now there’s a truly 21st Century way to experience it – the KXplorer digital heritage trail.

How to works

You can follow the trail with your smartphone or tablet, and it’s completely free of charge. To start, get hold of your trail map at the King’s Cross Visitor Centre or download it here. Then, go to the KXplorer website on your phone. Or, simply access the trail from the signage around the estate via the QR codes.

The map guides you around 11 hotspots. At each spot you will discover stories about the place you’re standing.

The Fish & Coal Offices over Regent's Canal, King's CrossDid you know…the Midland Goods Shed was the hub for perishable goods  from the nearby Caledonian Cattle Market? Or, that the Granary Building was designed to hold 60,000 sacks of grain?

Find out more interesting facts and uncover the past through memories, images and video, or glimpse what the future has in store with artist impressions.

There’s even a kids’ quiz trail with a small prize for finishing. A perfect activity after a splash in the fountains.
