Flash-mob ‘waggle dance’
50 performers from The Place dance school, will be creating a buzz in Granary Square by leading a flash-mob style ‘waggle dance’. Dressed as bees, the dancers will demonstrate how honeybees dance to communicate where the best source of food can be found.
And the bee-related fun doesn’t end there. You can take part in meet-the-bee workshops in the Skip Garden and follow the bee trail and count the bees. It’s a perfect way to end the half-term holiday.
10:30 am, 12:30 pm and 2.30pm: Meet the bees workshops at the Skip Garden
11 am, 1 pm and 3 pm: Bee Trail tours, led by King’s Cross bees (The Place dancers in costume), starting at Granary Square and ending at the Skip Garden
12 noon, 2 pm and 4pm: Waggle dance flash-mob – 50 dancers will teach you how to do the bee waggle dance. Join the flashmob!
This event is free and for all the family.
The Honey Club app
The Honey Club app is an interactive bee trail around King’s Cross and is available from 5th June to 4th September.
There are eight stops along the trail, each marked with a Honey Club sign that’s powered by innovative technology. At each of the stops, a beacon unlocks a new part of the app and accesses a new activity. Some locations are about learning something new about bees, and others invite you to take part in a bee count.
As you follow the trail, you’ll unlock vouchers to some fantastic places to eat: German Gymnasium, The Lighterman, Dishoom, The Grain Store, Caravan, The Greek Larder, Rotunda, and Skip Garden Kitchen.
