The Global Solidarity Dinner marks the beginning of a solidarity-building project between young people in King’s Cross and recently arrived refugees living in Southern Italy.
The project aims to establish a dialogue between the young people in London, young Italians from the village of Poggiorsini and 90 refugees from Ghana, Ivory Coast, Somalia, Nigeria, Senegal and Pakistan who recently arrived in Poggiorsini. Local King’s Cross young people will be involved in the whole process, from linking with the Italian organisation and refugees, planning the menu, cooking and serving food on the night.
All proceeds from this supper will go to Associazione Polisportiva L. Di Bartolomeo, an organisation that aims to better engage with refugees through social and community events.
The dinner consists of a three-course blend of African, Asian and Italian cuisines with a vegetarian Skip Garden twist. The evening will round off with a traditional Poggiorsini dessert and hot drinks by the fire in the Skip Garden yurt.
