STORE Store New Year Workshops

Join us for the January STORE Store workshops and learn how to artfully transform Christmas waste into new objects

Saturday 12th January 2019 - Saturday 26th January 2019

Look at how you can recycle and reuse some waste products from Christmas with STORE Store’s Saturday workshop series throughout January.

Milk to Plastic, 12 Jan, 1pm-3pm

The workshop will go through the process of extracting protein from milk to form a natural alternative to plastic to produce small handcrafted objects. The Protein Project seeks to re-envision milk as a resourceful and valuable raw material, utilising waste milk from the dairy industry.

Wrapping Paper into Tableware, 19 Jan, 1pm-5pm

This workshop will teach you how to turn your old Christmas wrapping paper into new objects. Alongside designer James Shaw, you will be taken through steps to transform your wrapping paper into a paper mache paste that can be used to make entirely new objects. You will then have the chance to design your very own bowl with James’ Paper Mache extrusion technique.

Food Plates Workshop, 26 Jan, 2pm-6pm

Food Plates is a playful workshop where you will be able to celebrate food and tableware at the same time. You’ll be making your own ceramic plates and collaging images and shapes of food on to the top surface of the plates. With a variety of coloured clay you can create shapes of your favourite food by simply pressing them into the slab of clay. This results in a humorous and abstract version of your meal, entertaining guests at future dinner parties.

Workshops are open to a maximum of 10 participants (age 16+).

Tickets range from £30-£35 (discounts for students available) with all proceeds supporting the SCHOOL SCHOOL after school club for the local state school students.
