The Quentin Blake Gallery at House of Illustration opens with a magical exhibition

Seven Kinds of Magic is the inaugural exhibition of House of Illustration’s new Quentin Blake Gallery.

Blake is one of the world’s foremost illustrators, children everwhere recognise his drawings from Roald Dahl’s books such as The Twits and The BFG.

This exhibition is curated by Blake himself. On show are depictions of magic both in Blake’s own books and in those of other writers such as Russell Hoban, John Yeoman and Roald Dahl.

The exhibition features original illustrations from seven very different books – Angel Pavement, The WitchesPatrick, Angelica Sprocket’s Pockets, Rosie’s Magic Horse, Magical Tales andMy Friend Mr Leakey.

The Quentin Blake Gallery is a new addition to the House of Illustration. It will be the only place displaying a permanent exhibition of original artwork by Blake.
