The tour will explore the impact of the aerial bombardment of the Second World War and the area’s decline in the second half of the 20th century. Join us as we take you on a tour of the centre with its two huge, gas powered Jenbacher engines. These engines generate electricity for the site and the excess heat is captured and used to provide heating and hot water. This district-wide energy system is one of the largest of its kind in the UK.

Masterplanning a New Piece of City Tour
Sat at 11.00 and 1.00 & Sun at 11.00 and 1.00
The development at King’s Cross has grown out of a masterplan and a set of guiding principles –Principles for a Human City. The plan was developed over 10 years ago through much collaboration and consultation. It was never intended to be a blueprint, but instead is a flexible framework from which the streets, public spaces and buildings at King’s Cross are developed over time. Architects from Allies and Morrison will talk through the masterplan, and the principles it is based on, using the site model. You’ll then be taken on a tour which demonstrates how the plan and guiding principles are being put into practice today.
