Bring your imagination and spend the day with the Play Hub team. Our playworkers are on hand ready to enthral kids of all ages with a host of creative activities. With the help of a few props and some fun building toys, your children’s inner world will come to life. FREE activity.

KX Get Drawing

Whether you want to doodle a bit or create a masterpiece in chalk, come and take part in the big draw. We’ll provide the material – you bring the artistic genius! FREE activity.

Community Arts Project with Vieno Motors and Ilona Valkonen

Calling all artists big and small! Come and join Ilona Valkonen to produce some wonderful floral art creations from recycled material. We will be decorating our community Christmas tree with these marvellous decorations and revealing the final artwork on Monday 12th November under West Handyside Canopy. FREE activity.

Microscopic Marbling at the Crick Institute

Free family workshops exploring the awe-inspiring patterns found in biology. Get stuck in and experiment with marbling, try your hand at mark-making and discover the fascinating work of the Crick scientists. Join illustrator and mark maker Grace Holliday and delve into cellular layers by using different shapes, formations and colour pallets to create layered frame artworks to take home. Meet Crick researchers and learn about the intricate and beautiful patterns they find in their research.

Science on Screen: Now you See Me

Francis Crick Institute presents Science on Screen, a series of compelling dramas with a science twist. Come along to enjoy top-notch films, enjoy complimentary popcorn, and explore the themes featured in the films with speakers from the Crick and beyond. Oh, and did we mention that there’s free popcorn?
This event is organised by young people for young people and is for ages 14-18 only.

Children at House of IllustrationHouse of Illustration family workshop: Our bodies in space

Over at House of Illustration, the team will be kicking their shoes off at this October Family Workshop and discovering how we can use our bodies to make art. The workshop explores the homes we live in and the bodies we live with. Come and create a collective animation on acetate using sharpies, collage, coloured cellophane…and your feet.
