Illustrating the Animal Kingdom

Mammals, reptiles, birds - learn how to capture animals in pencil and ink

Sunday 22nd April 2018 - Sunday 1st July 2018

Tutor Sion Ap Tomos leads a hands-on ten-week course at House of Illustration to help you get to grips with drawing animals of every kind.

You’ll explore land, water, and air, working from taxidermy specimens in the studio, from photographic reference and drawing live animals at a city farm. There’ll also be a museum visit.

Throughout the workshops, Tomos will guide you through a variety of techniques and styles to capture animal form, movement and detail. You’ll also experiment with material, including various drawing materials, watercolour, ink and collage.

The course will suit anyone with some experience of drawing, – whether professionally or purely personally – but wishes to develop their skills, and is open to experimenting and exploring.

Illustrating the Animal Kingdom is a ten-week course on Sundays from 11am – 1.30pm, 22 April – 1 July. Find House of Illustration at 2 Granary Square, King’s Cross.
