Eid is a much loved event that marks the end of dawn-to-sunset fasting during the holy month of Ramadan. It is a time for family, feasting and togetherness. This year, Eid al-Fitr is likely to fall on Wednesday 6th July.
To celebrate, Dishoom are hosting a special foodie event on Sunday 17 July from 12pm – 4pm in Lewis Cubitt Square, opposite the Dishoom restaurant. The invite is warmly extended to all, and is free to attend.
Celebrate Eid with Dishoom
Throughout the day, there will be an incredible array of music, performance, art and, of course, great food.
Visitors can enjoy the calligraphy talents of Samir Malik, who will capture your name in beautiful Arabic script, have traditional menhdi (henna) painted on their hands, and sample delicious, fragrant parcels of meetha Paan, a popular Indian digestive, as well as traditional Indian sweets, Chai, Thums Up and Limca. For kids, there will be a face painter and the chance to pick a special Eid gift from the lucky dip!
Don’t miss the fantastic line-up of live performances from from Faisal Salah, British Muslim hip-hop duo Poetic Pilgrimage, Pearls of Islam and sufi music from Fahad Khalid and his band.
Please note, Dishoom drinks, paan, sweet and all activities are completely free of charge, but street food stalls will be charged as normal. All food at the Eid celebration is halal and no alcohol is served.
