For Art Night only
From 5pm on June 22
As part of Art Night 2019, Central Saint Martins, UAL, will also present a major new project to mark the centenary of the Bauhaus. In response to the school’s renowned parties, students from across all disciplines will transform Granary Square into a unified work of art, bringing together performers and the public.
Granary Square will be reimagined as a stage set and party venue, featuring movable props and ‘scenes’, by Monika Kuhn-Jorgensen, Christopher Pearson, Saroj Patel and Mohini Mehta, with which the public can create their own performance. Larger-than-life costumed characters designed and produced by Maggie Campbell and Sarah Walsh will proliferate the space, activating an entirely edible banqueting table by Sarah Allen and Sondos Azzam. Utopian futures will be on offer in Canopy Market via Karin Kytökangas, as will the opportunity to produce your own with Mita Vaghela. Finally, Kings Cross will be transformed into a public Mughul Court, as a reimagined Raga Darbari is performed by Anni Kruus, in collaboration with Naira Mushtaq, in the iconic Granary Square fountains, around a new sculpture for A Unified Work of Art by Raji Jagadeesan.
