Look out for the big red barge hosting movie nights, storytelling, mindfulness and more

Ever fancied catching a film on a boat? Or a mindfulness session? How about snuggling in to listen to some magical storytelling?

Well you’re in luck: Barge Fiodra is a purpose-built floating venue touring the UK canal system, and it’s headed to King’s Cross! For two weeks, the barge will be moored opposite the Granary Square canalside steps, ready to host a jam-packed programme of events.

27 April Screening: The Life Aquatic
By very popular demand, catch The Wes Anderson cult classic in a cinema like no other.

28 April A Finnish Fairy Tale: Sarah Liisa Wilkinson
The first of two storytelling sessions, this powerful rendition takes the listener on a journey into Finnish legend of The Girl, the Snake Witch, and the Grinning Castle.

2 May The Mindfulness of Boating: Free Meditation Practice Evening
Fiodra’s Skipper, Bob Chase, is an trained mindfulness teacher and will be offering a chance to experience and learn some simple mindfulness techniques. A unique opportunity.

4 May Alys Torrance: Rapunzel retold for 21st-century minds
What could be better than to stow-away on a boat and listening to magical stories from around the world? Talented storyteller Alys gives her retells her wild version of a classic fable.

5 May Vote for a Film Night: Vote for a seafaring film for us to show
For the first time, viewers can choose which sea story they wish to watch – check out Fiodra’s website to discover the films and cast your vote.

There are also events running daily throughout the festival – lunchtime mindfulness sessions and a special film screening.

Lunchtime Mindfulness Session

In need of a little time and space for yourself? No worries, every weekday lunchtime from 12.30pm – 1.30pm, Fiodra will become an island of calm on your doorstep.

Canal on Screen: 100 Years, Two films

If you want to know more about the Regent’s Canal, Fiodra will be presenting a unique double feature of films made almost 100 years apart. The contrast is phenomenal between Barging Through London (1924) and The Cut made in 2018 by Artist Pierre Tremblay and the Canal Poet Laureate, Nancy Campbell. Daily showings.
