London’s largest contemporary art festival is coming to King’s Cross
Art Night – for one night – all night long – art is put into extraordinary locations around London. This year, the festival kicks off at King’s Cross where Christine Sun Kim will transform Coal Drops Yard with a three-part commission.
Christine will collaborate with students at the local Frank Barnes School for Deaf Children to create two works — an experimental multi-channel video installation and a text-based ‘declaration’ in Cubitt Square, as well as a sound piece at the new arts-focused COS store in Coal Drops Yard. This last work explores how experiences of deafness shape understandings of language and culture.
On the final weekend of Central Saint Martins Degree Show Two: Design, the College presents a major new project to mark the centenary of the Bauhaus.
Also watch out for installations and projects at Everyman, Spiritland and other locations around King’s Cross by national and international artists.
Art Night 2019 is curated by Helen Nisbet. The programme begins at 5.00pm in King’s Cross and continues in Walthamstow.
Watch this space! The full programme will be unveiled in the coming weeks!
