With the perfect synthesis of typography, design and illustration, Soviet children’s publishing in the 1920s and 1930s revolutionised the picture book form against a turbulent political backdrop.
This major exhibition at House of Illustration explores this period of unprecedented innovation with a selection of original artwork and rare books from the collection of Sasha Lurye.
Discover rarely-seen work by some of the most influential figures of the age, including Vladimir Tambi, sisters Olga and Galena Chicagova, and Vladimir Lebedev, whose avant garde illustrations for prominent poet and translator Samuil Marshak have become iconic.
The exhibition runs from 27th May to 11th September. Book your tickets here!
House of Illustration is open 10am to 6pm daily.
