GRANARY SQUARE PEDESTRIANISATION: NOVEMBER 2020 – APRIL 2021

From 23 November 2020 we will be commencing works to pedestrianise Granary Square. These works will involve the removal of the existing roadways and adjacent paving, followed by the installation of new drainage channels and finally the installation of new paving over the old areas of road to complete the pedestrianisation. These works will be carried out in a phased sequence to minimise disruption and maintain access and will complete by April 2021. Below we have set out details of the phasing.

Phase 1 –  Works will commence on the west side of Granary Square and last approximately four weeks. Bagley Walk will become single lane width with emergency and service vehicle access to Coal Drops Yard which will be controlled by marshals.

Phase 2 – Works will commence to the east side of Granary Square road pavement that crosses over Regent’s Canal and will last approximately three weeks. There will be no vehicle access from Goods Way, emergency vehicles will enter via Stable Street.

Phase 3 – Works will commence to the section of Granary Square road that crosses over Regent’s Canal and will last approximately three weeks. There will be no vehicle access from Goods Way, emergency vehicles will enter via Stable Street.

Phase 4 – Works will commence to central section of Granary Square road and last approximately four weeks.

Works will take place behind acoustic barriers to minimise noise disruption and access for pedestrians will be maintained at all times.
