Piling works at P2 are due to commence on Wednesday 28 November. This involves boring columns into the ground to support the structure of the building and is similar to works recently carried out at S1 and T zone. It may be noisy at times.
In advance of this the piling rigs will be delivered to site – due to the size of the trucks these deliveries will take place before 7:30am. Two deliveries are expected on Monday 26, one on Tuesday 27 and one on Wednesday 28. The deliveries will not be noisy as the trucks will drive onto site and turn their engines off until 8am.
The first stage of piling is likely to be the noisiest due to the type of piling rig in use. However from 14 January it should be quieter as we will only use a CFA piling rig which offers the lowest noise and vibration possible. All efforts will be made to ensure that works complete by 6pm.
Due to the unpredictability of what can be found in the ground, sometimes there may be a requirement to ‘core’ through any hard obstructions, such as old concrete or brick. This will only be carried out during normal working hours. It may be necessary to work on Saturday mornings during the piling works if these obstructions cause delays.
Please note that piling works at P2, along with all other construction work at King’s Cross will cease over the Christmas period. The final day of works will be Friday 21 December and the site will reopen on Wednesday 2 January.
King’s Cross apologise for the inconvenience these works may cause.
