Pedestrianisation of Granary Square

Posted: Thursday 15th November 2018

In order to make Granary Square a more family friendly space, from Monday 19 November Granary Square will become fully pedestrianised meaning that there will be no through route  for traffic between Goods Way and Stable Street.

Here is a diagram to show how this will look:

At the bottom of Stable Street there will be a turning circle – this will allow delivery vehicles to turn onto Stable Street from Handyside Street, drop off as needed, turn round and exit back on to Handyside Street.

Drop down bollards will restrict access between Stable Street and Granary Square, except during CDY servicing times between 6-10am.

The Stable Street carriageway will be raised to the same level as Granary Square in early 2020.
