If you think Mexican food is all about mushy avocados and beans, then this taqueria from the Hart brothers of Barrafina fame will prove you wrong.
Expect Mexico City-inspired tacos, tostadas and quesadillas along with Baja California-style mariscos. The heritage corn tortillas are made from scratch in-house every day and there are seven freshly made salsas to choose from, ranging from the mild Mexicana to the wild El Diablo.
The atmosphere is casual with high tables to perch at, a few banquettes for lounging, plus a big, “tequila-slinging” central bar, where the drinks come in worryingly large servings.
Casa Pastor is open for breakfast, lunch, dinner and drinks and is walk-in only. Mon-Wed 8am – midnight, Thurs-Sat 8am – 1am and Sun 8am – 10pm. See the menu and drinks list here
This covered, heated terrace just outside Casa Pastor might not be as balmy as the Yucatan, but you can enjoy drinks, Mexican rotisserie chicken, tortas, tacos in a relaxed atmosphere from 12 until late. Look out for the live music and DJ programme.
